Sonego serves past Shang 6-3 6-3 in Cincinnati opener
Lorenzo Sonego needed just two sets to see off Juncheng Shang 6-3 6-3 in the Cincinnati first round, controlling the match from the baseline of his own serve and taking a break in each set. The Italian landed 66.7% of his first serves and won 72.5% of those points, backing it up with seven aces and only two double faults. Shang, by contrast, found the first-serve box just 46.3% of the time, won 56.0% behind it and coughed up five double faults, leaving himself exposed on second serve. It was a clean, efficient start to the hard-court Masters for Sonego.
