Duckworth edges Wolf 7-5 7-6 in Cincinnati first round
James Duckworth needed no third set but had to work for every game, coming through 7-5 7-6 against Alexandra Wolf in the Cincinnati opening round. The Australian's first serve was the difference: he landed only 52.9 percent of them, yet won 88.9 percent of those points, against 63.0 percent for Wolf. Duckworth also held firmer behind the second ball, taking 59.4 percent of those points to his opponent's 50.0, and struck seven aces to five with each man serving three double faults. It was a hard-earned place in the second round.
