Berrettini recovers from a set down to beat Droguet in Cincinnati
Matteo Berrettini dropped the opening set but turned the match around to defeat Titouan Droguet 3-6 6-1 6-4 in the first round in Cincinnati. Once the Italian found his range, his first delivery became close to untouchable: he won 91.1% of the points behind it and struck nine aces, even though only 55.6% of his first serves landed. Droguet served solidly too, with seven aces and 61.8% first serves in, but he won just 41.4% of his second-serve points and 78.7% behind his first. Four double faults never cost Berrettini the initiative after the opening set, and the win put him into the second round.
