Faria beats Brooksby in straight sets at Cincinnati

Jaime Faria needed only two sets to see off Jenson Brooksby 6-3 6-2 in the opening round in Cincinnati, controlling the match from the front. The Portuguese landed just 56.7% of his first serves but did huge damage behind them, winning 79.4% of those points and striking five aces, enough to cover six double faults. Brooksby, by contrast, found little protection on serve: 60.6% of first-serve points won and only 35.0% behind the second, which left him repeatedly exposed on his own delivery. It was a clean, efficient win that carried Faria into the second round of the Masters 1000.
