Merida rallies past Cilic in Cincinnati first round

Daniel Merida recovered from a set down to beat Marin Cilic 3-6 6-1 6-1 in the Round of 128 in Cincinnati, taking the last two sets for the loss of just two games. The Spaniard's serve was the difference once he settled: nine aces against two double faults, 72.7% of points won behind the first delivery and a solid 55.9% on the second. Cilic landed only 51.5% of his first serves and won 64.7% of those points, while his second serve broke even at 50%. It was a statement win for Merida on the big hard-court stage.
