Bucsa edges Udvardy in three sets in Cincinnati opener
Cristina Bucsa came through a swinging three-setter against Panna Udvardy 6-2 1-6 7-5 in the Round of 128 in Cincinnati, taking the opener, losing her way in the second and then holding firm at 5-5 in the decider. The Spaniard's steadiness on serve told: she landed 66.3% of first serves and won 72.7% of those points, with just one double fault. Udvardy struck 10 aces to Bucsa's two and won 77.5% behind her first delivery, but she found the court with only 50% of them and paid for the gaps. It was a hard-earned win to start Bucsa's tournament.
