Arango edges Podoroska in three sets to reach Cincinnati main draw
Emiliana Arango came from a set down to beat Nadia Podoroska 4-6 7-5 6-3 in the final round of qualifying at the WTA 1000 in Cincinnati. The Colombian's serve grew steadier as the match wore on: she landed 63.9% of first serves and won 66.1% of those points, while crucially taking 48.6% behind her second delivery. Podoroska's five aces were undone by 11 double faults and a return-friendly 36.8% of second-serve points won. Arango's six double faults never cost her the momentum, and the win carried her into the main draw.
