Faria beats Wu Yibing in straight sets to reach Cincinnati main draw
Jaime Faria came through the Cincinnati qualifying final in straight sets, edging Wu Yibing 6-3 7-5 without ever losing control of the match. The serve told the story: the Portuguese struck nine aces to none for Wu and dropped just two double faults, landing 68.2% of first serves and winning 73.3% of those points. Wu's delivery gave him far less protection, with 61.4% won behind the first ball and only 47.6% on the second, a margin that left him exposed in the longer second set. Faria's reward was a place in the main draw on hard courts.
