Sawangkaew beats Tararudee in all-Thai Cincinnati qualifying final
Mananchaya Sawangkaew came through an all-Thai qualifying final in Cincinnati, beating compatriot Lanlana Tararudee 6-4 6-3 without dropping a set. The difference sat in the first-serve column: Sawangkaew landed 57.6% of her first deliveries and won 79.4% of those points, while Tararudee found the box only 52.3% of the time and took just 55.9% behind her first ball. Tararudee actually held the edge on second serve, winning 58.1% to 44.0%, but she could not get enough free points elsewhere. With one ace and two double faults, Sawangkaew kept the errors low and secured her place in the main draw.
