Selekhmeteva edges Mandlik in three sets in Cincinnati qualifying

Oksana Selekhmeteva recovered from losing a first-set tiebreak to beat Elizabeth Mandlik 6-7 6-4 6-3 in the final round of qualifying at the WTA 1000 in Cincinnati. It was a match decided by fragile serving on both sides: the Russian struck just two aces against 16 double faults, while Mandlik managed three aces and 12 doubles. Selekhmeteva landed 58.9% of her first serves and won 65.2% of those points, comfortably ahead of Mandlik's 53.7% and 60.6%, and that edge carried her through the closing stages despite winning only 32.6% behind her second delivery.
