Eva Lys fights back past Kawa in Cincinnati qualifying
Eva Lys recovered from a set down to beat Katarzyna Kawa 5-7 6-1 6-4 in the final round of qualifying in Cincinnati. The German found her range on serve after the opening set, landing 68.8 percent of her first deliveries and winning 60.6 percent of those points, enough to steady a match in which she also coughed up six double faults. Kawa's problem was the first ball: it landed just 44.6 percent of the time, and seven double faults left her leaning on a second serve that produced only 47.8 percent. Lys came through to reach the main draw.
