Virtanen powers past Gogineni in Cincinnati qualifying
Otto Virtanen needed only two lopsided sets to reach the final round of Cincinnati qualifying, beating Vignesh Gogineni 6-3 6-1. The Finn's serve did the damage: 11 aces against just three double faults, and 81.8 percent of points won behind a first delivery that landed 64.7 percent of the time. Gogineni matched him for first-serve accuracy at 65.9 percent but converted only 62.1 percent of those points, and his second serve, worth just 40 percent, offered no shelter as the second set ran away from him. Virtanen moved a win from the main draw.
